Nutrition to Maintain and Improve Health

Essentially, Nutrition is the provision of the necessary food to our cells as required to support life. However, it’s entirely possible to prevent or relieve many common health problems, simply, by following a healthy diet and it’s this aspect of Nutrition that I specialise in.

It may interest you to know that people can survive without food for two to eight weeks, depending on individual levels of stored body fat and muscle mass. However, if we go without water we’d be unlikely to survive beyond three or four days.

Poor diet is becoming much more of an issue, these days, and obesity in some countries (including the US and the UK) has reached almost epidemic levels. Obesity is caused by eating more calories than our body burns during an average day, and it can lead to a wide range of health complications including chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis, as well as one of the major health concerns around today; that is, the risk of becoming Type 2 Diabetic.

For many people, excessive weight gain arises from a combination of overeating and insufficient exercise. In fact, many people aren’t just overeating, they’re overeating many unhealthy foods that are high fat, high sugar and high carbohydrate content.
