Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage

A Hot Stone Massage can be one of the most incredible massage experiences for the recipient and there are a number of elements that can add to the experience.

The term, Hot Stone Massage, certainly gives you a good idea as to what the therapy involves.  Basalt stones are heated to 50 – 53 oC (122 - 127 oF) in a purpose built Stone Heater. The stones are immersed in water until they reach temperature and are then removed from the heater to use in the treatment.

Basalt stones are a dark, volcanic rock which is used, partially, because they hold the heat so well but, also, for their smooth texture.

Additional Elements to Enhance a Hot Stone Massage

During the Hot Stone Massage, some of the stones are placed on specific points on the body, whilst other stones are held and then used to work the muscles.

An Example of Hot Stone MassageIn addition to using the hot stones, I’ll make an aromatic blend of oils, specifically to suit you, which will help rebalance your body. To add to the whole experience, I also use crystals and gemstones that will enhance your energy levels.

All of this culminates in a fantastic experience.

One of the benefits of a Hot Stone Massage is that the heat penetrates deeply in to the muscle tissue. Simply resting the stones on the body starts the relaxation process and massaging with the hot stones really gets the circulation and lymph systems stimulated.

Hot Stone Massage With Another Dimension

There are certain styles of Stone Massage that incorporate chilled stones in the routine. These stones are usually marble, and are placed into a bowl of iced water before use. A competent stone massage therapist will know when it is best to use hot stones and when it is best to use cold stones.
